Death Industry News
(Historical)

Old newspapers are a great history research tool. Much can be learned about the history of a location (and its people), a general time period (and its people), and even a specific industry (and its people). Certainly, this includes the death / funeral / undertaker industry! Old newspapers are full of advertsiements and artcles about good undertakers, bad undertakers, undertakers running for public office,...and so on. Furthermore, old news articles even provide insight into the funeral director business and how it has changed, for better or worse, over the years.

The following newspaper articles were transcribed and can be seen and read in their original entirety with a subscription to Ancestry's Historical Newspaper Collection or Genealogy Bank. Ancestry's collection is priced at under $5 a month, and they add to it on a regular basis. Genealogy Bank has several newspapers not available at Ancestry.
